Mr. Escobar
Music has been part of his life since he was 13 years old. Growing up in Argentina, he found his first connection to rhythm through dance, later becoming a dance teacher while developing a deep appreciation for music in all its forms. His journey later took him to Brazil, where he continued teaching Brazilian dance before eventually settling in Christchurch, New Zealand.
It was in New Zealand that electronic music truly became his language. Surrounded by a welcoming community of local DJs, friends and mentors, he gradually found his place behind the decks, developing a style shaped by Latin roots, deep grooves and hypnotic rhythms.
Performing as Mr. Escobar, he has played across Christchurch at Afro House events, techno nights, Latin parties and community-driven gatherings, adapting his sound to each space while staying true to his identity. His sets move between Afro House, Deep House, Latin House, Melodic House and Techno, always focusing on groove, progression and storytelling rather than predictable moments.
Morning Sessions by Mr. Escobar was born from a simple question. Every time he sat down for a morning coffee, he noticed the same thing: the room was filled only with conversations, cups, and the noise of everyday life. He kept wondering why cafés rarely had music that matched the moment.
For him, the morning is one of the most important parts of the day. It’s the moment before the rush begins, before work, before schedules take over. A carefully selected soundtrack can slow everything down, soften the atmosphere, and create space to breathe. Not music that demands attention, but music that quietly changes the mood of the room.
Morning Sessions is his way of bringing electronic music into that space. Deep, Afro and organic grooves played with intention—never overpowering the conversation, only complementing it. The goal isn’t to turn a café into a club. It’s to make that first coffee feel warmer, calmer and more memorable, creating an atmosphere where people naturally slow down, connect, and start the day differently.
While Christchurch is where his journey continues to grow, his vision reaches further. Mr. Escobar is steadily expanding his presence across New Zealand, building relationships with cafés, venues, festivals and promoters who believe that music can transform not only a dancefloor, but also the everyday moments in between.
“Start slower. Feel deeper. The best part of the day deserved a soundtrack.”
